Hugo de Almeida Pinho
Hugo de Almeida Pinho was born in Ovar, Portugal, in 1986.
He lives and works between Lisbon and Porto. He graduated in Fine Arts - Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Porto and Marmara University in Istanbul. In 2020, he was selected for the residency program at Cripta747 in Turin, and in 2019, he completed an artistic residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, supported by a scholarship from the Institut Français. Hugo de Almeida Pinho has curated various performance art projects and film exhibitions. He has been exhibiting regularly since 2009, with his work being presented in Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Brazil, France, Japan, and Germany.
In 2018, the artist was selected by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation for an artistic residency at Künstlerhaus Bethanien—a program supported by Camões Berlin—where he presented the solo exhibition "Paradox of Plenty." In May 2019, Hugo de Almeida Pinho co-curated "Out Off Nature," a screening of artist films that took place at the Arsenal - Institut für Film und Videokunst in Berlin.
