Welcome to dialogue!
Inspired by historical art salons, we challenge conventional narratives with a punk-like attitude. Our work persistently delves beneath the surface of an image-saturated world. With a peculiar eye for quality—conceptual, material, and relational—our program evolves organically, guided by the needs of our artists and the constellations of collaboration that emerge.
We believe contemporary art is driven by dialogue—between artists and audiences, disciplines and ideas, the past and the present. Each exhibition is a pretext for dialogue: a space where conversations take form, unfold, and evolve.
As an architect, the concept of movement in space is intrinsic to my thinking. Witnessing the remarkable Dialoge 09 by Sasha Waltz & Guests during the opening of David Chipperfield’s Neues Museum in Berlin in 2009 awakened an urge to explore the intersections of creativity.
From this intuition, dialogue was born as a project—dialogue #01, presented during ARCO Lisbon 2023 in Adriana Barreto’s studio in Marvila. Action Sculpture unfolded the relationship between drawing, movement, sculpture, and choreography. That encounter laid the groundwork for a contemporary art gallery and platform for experimentation.
Based in Lisbon, with a main gallery in Marvila and a chapel project space in Belém, we represent fourteen emerging and established Portuguese and international artists. Guest collaborators further foster inclusivity and dynamism.
In parallel to being a house for artists—with a regular exhibition and public program—dialogue offers a creative approach to collection management. We work closely with collectors throughout their journey. We also develop long-term projects that bridge art and architecture, curating, fundraising, and producing site-specific and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Rooted in the creative process, dialogue values authenticity in creating, making, performing, and displaying art. In an increasingly digital world, the gallery is a sanctuary for face-to-face engagement—where lasting relationships and fresh collaborations thrive.
