Madalena Anjos (Lisbon, 1995) lives and works in Lisbon. She holds a BA in Communication Design and an MA in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon, and completed a semester in Visual Communication at Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin. In 2025, she attended the independent study programme Maumaus.
Through her work, she explores the subjectivity of images and words, the materiality of painting and mark-making, and the potential of writing, reading, and collective exchange as tools for critical reflection.
Her practice has also involved teaching visual arts and citizenship in public schools, performing DJ sets and radio programmes (Big Ladam, Rádio Quântica), writing and editing texts and zines, selling books, organising cultural events, participating in reading groups (with the Future Cultures Association), and exhibiting her work. Highlights include the solo exhibition Ténia’s Dream at Galeria Mala, and group exhibitions such as Correspondências and Sing Song at Galeria Zé dos Bois; Wild Card at Balcony; Maiden Voyage at Buraco; and Close Encounters of the Second Kind at Galeria Municipal da Avenida da Índia.
